Child sexual abuse exploits and degrades children, and can lead to feelings of
hopelessness, depression, and to self-destructive and anti-social behaviors.
We, as a nation and as individuals, have the collective responsibility to prevent
child sexual abuse. To accomplish this, we must strengthen child abuse
prevention services that support children and families. We must enact legislation that
protects children from child sexual abuse. And we must promote research,
training, and public education to address the risk factors that can lead to
child sexual abuse.
